Artist Chippie Kennedy has called 53 Falkland Street home for the last eight years, having an atelier in the historic Lunenburg Foundry where she creates her signature classical bronze sculptures that are loved and collected throughout the world.
After working together for five years as artist and agent she invited Joe Wilson to join her as Gallery Director and together they turned her working studio in to Foundry Gallery, representing exceptional Nova Scotian and International artists.
Founded in 2025, Foundry has quickly become one of Nova Scotia’s finest independently run art galleries, offering expertise and a high level of service to their collectors. A carefully curated collection in all mediums is available at Foundry, now known as a gathering place for lovers of art in the heart of the UNESCO town of Lunenburg.
Joe Wilson
With deep roots on Nova Scotia’s South Shore, Gallery Director Joe Wilson’s life has been profoundly shaped by the visual arts. His lifelong passion ignited at the age of five when he met Canadian icon Maude Lewis and acquired one of her paintings.
Studies in Economics and Fine Art at Mount Allison University led to a successful career in Investments. He managed a Nova Scotia office for the American brokerage firm Merrill Lynch eventually moving to Montréal with the company. Then followed a board position with BNP Paribas’ Canadian Private Bank (The National Bank of Paris), working closely with patrons of Montréal’s Arts community. During this time, he also represented the BNP Paribas Foundation in Canada, organizing events with the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, Toronto’s Opera Atelier, and Montréal’s Birks flagship store. His extensive board experience includes roles with CANFAR (The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research) and The Lunenburg Foundation for the Arts (LFA), where he served as a Director and notably chaired their grant writing jury for several years.
Returning to Nova Scotia a decade ago he began his third act, managing various art galleries in Lunenburg, using his business and design acumen honed through collaborations with artists and discerning collectors. Meeting Chippie Kennedy seven years ago was kismet, and together they created Foundry Gallery, a space dedicated to showcasing exceptional Nova Scotian and International art, a place for art lovers to gather and to be inspired. He now lives at the mouth of the LaHave River, with his husband Jeff and their adorable Boston Terrier Oscar, and life is wonderful.
